Simply adorable 12″ antique composition, “KEWPIE”, jointed chubby doll, by Cameo
and designed by famed illustrator and designer, Rose O’Neill, late 1940s. Side glancing eyes
,
chubby cheeks, and watermelon smile, he is sure to capture someone’s

heart! He has a molded topknot, side and back curls in a dark brown. He has starfish shaped hands, swivel neck and jointed legs with the cutest knees and flat feet to stand and wears a sunsuit reproduced from a flour sack of that era. He does have a nick in his forearm as shown in one of the pictures. He will be a welcome addition to any doll

When restoring a composition doll, I remove all the old, cracked, lead based paint, then I fill and sand multiple times to get a satin smooth finish. Then I prime and sand 2-3X more before airbrushing the final two coats of skin tone. An oil based paint is used to get the same look as was original to the doll. Then hair and blush are airbrushed before hand painting the lashes, brows, and lips.
